Cicerone South Downs Way

This guidebook has all the information needed to walk the South Downs Way, a 100-mile (160km) national trail through the South Downs National Park between Winchester and Eastbourne. The route is described in both west–east and east–west directions, over 12 day-stages.

Following the northern crest of the South Downs escarpment for much of the way, with broad views overlooking low Wealden farmlands and rolling
Downs, the trail rarely descends to habitation except where river valleys interrupt the regular course of the Downs.

In addition to the two-way route description, this guidebook features information on travel, accommodation and local information of interest to
the walker.

This national trail is walked in whole or in part by thousands of visitors every year, and is the only national trail to entirely run within a national park. With
far-reaching views, pretty villages, woodlands and largely dry easy walking this is a justifiably popular national trail.
